During our week off, we drove through the Swiss Alps and into Italy for three sun-drenched days along the shores of Lakes Maggiore, Como and Orta. I had never visited this part of Italy and fell instantly in love with the crystal blue waters, the breathtaking mountainsides and the quaint little villages that line the three lakes. We spent our days visiting villas, fisherman villages and taking in the sheer perfection of it all, of course with a little gelato to cool off.
