Date Night - Route 66

This week, we were off exploring the west of the United States – a first for monsieur and myself. One of our stops is on the historic Route 66. I can’t help but day dream of how animated and exciting Route 66 must have been in the old days, when travelling was a serious affair (I suppose it still is).
While nothing (or little) could be further from what I actually put together for our post-Grand Canyon dinner on the historic trail, I thought of what the western belles of the Route 66 hay day would wear for dinner, probably mixing  swingy summer florals and dainty gold accessories. I just might wear something like this once we are back in Florida and remember our quick zip through Williams, AZ.

date night - mid week holiday

In France, the month of May looks like Swiss cheese. There is literally a bank holiday literally every single week, and the fact that I’m going on vacation at the end of the month, makes it that much sweeter. Today’s date night post is more of a ‘date day’ for a day off in the middle of the week. I like that this look can transition from day to night with simple accessories.

gatsby!

It seems like everything is coming up Gatsby now that the movie is out. I for one, have been excited since I saw the trailer for the first time last year and love the idea of dressing like they did in the 1920s. The style is so glitzy and glam, I would dress like Daisy Buchanan every day if I could. Since I can't exactly walk around in the street dressed like this every day, I decided to slightly Gatsby-fy my look for the office this week. I like how this blouse sits just at the hip line, creating the impression that the skirt wasn't cinched at my waist underneath. I'll wait till I'm on vacation next week before watching the movie, so in the meantime, I'm listening to the soundtrack and watching The Artist.

the conference room

I guess you can say I'm pretty lucky in the sense that there is no set dress code in my office. Regardless of the relatively laid back nature of the office, I like to put together polished looks, especially when I have meetings with clients or important meetings with my managers. I don't think you have to dress like a school teacher or a banker to be taken seriously though, so today I decided to throw some spring into my look all while keeping it put together and conservative as I knew I'd be spending quite a bit of time in the conference room.

date night - birthdate

For as much as I love birthdays (mine especially), monsieur is surprisingly reserved about his own. If I would have planned a surprise party for him, this is what I would have worn to toast to his last even-numbered twenty. In fact, I like this dress so much, I'm thinking of buying it for the summer - it would be great for a date on vacation or even for a daytime wedding.
